Peter
MacLeod is the Managing Director of MacLeod Claims Management
Limited. The firm offers a comprehensive range of loss
adjustment services.
Core
services are the adjustment and management of insured losses,
litigation support, dispute resolution and catastrophe
management.
Areas
serviced are New Zealand, Guam, Palau, Yap, Northern Mariana,
Saipan, Philippines, Pacific Islands and Australia.
Following
6 years' training with a leading Loss Adjusting Company, Peter
established his own Loss Adjusting practice in 1978. This
business ultimately became part of the McLarens Toplis
International Loss Adjusting Group in New Zealand.
Peter
has handled a variety of substantial claims throughout New
Zealand and overseas. His specialties are major material damage
and machinery breakdown losses where a knowledge of rapid
reinstatement

techniques,
electrical, mechanical plant recovery processes and mitigation
of business interruption down time are essential to a successful
outcome. Other skills include marine surveying, business
interruption, legal liability investigations for defence
negotiation purposes and dispute resolution.
Peter
has been working internationally since 1995, assisting in the
development of a large international loss adjusting company in
the Philippines including Guam and Saipan. He was also the team
manager of the Hurricane Adjusting Team ('LUIS' and 'MARILYN')
in Antigua, St Thomas USVI in 1995 and London account typhoon
team in Guam 1997 ('PAKA').
Subsequent
to completion of the McLarens Toplis contract, Peter developed
his own international business where fires, typhoons and
earthquakes have been serviced. In particular, October 13th 2001
earthquake, April 27th 2002 earthquake, July 5th 2002 typhoon
"Chata'an", July 9th 2002 typhoon "Halong"
and December 8th 2002 typhoon "Pongsona". He has
adapted and is sensitive to the various cultures encountered
within the types of duties involved.
Peter is a Member of the Australasian Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters, Associate of the Insurance Institute of New Zealand and Member of the New Zealand Insurance Law Association.
